STEADY MOVES

Jul 20, 2026

Yesterday I rebounded for only five minutes.

My goal is ten minutes after meals, as often as I can.

I love my little trampoline. It’s the only form of exercise I’ve ever stuck with. I think because it’s gentle — allowing me to do as much or as little movement as I feel up to. But also because it’s fun.

My body has been asking for more support and I’m finally beginning to listen.

For sure, my body needs to move more often than I have in the past. But I’m learning that the timing of the movement is just as important as the type and length of the activity. So I’m trying to be intentional.

When I first got the rebounder, I could last through one whole song. About three minutes.

Then I eventually worked my way up to seven minutes. About two songs.

Now I can bounce for ten minutes. Well, at least most days.

This time my body said, “Nope, not today.” And that’s ok. Tomorrow we’ll try again.

Ten minutes of activity immediately following a meal is enough to help the blood sugar spike. A few days a week I also substitute gentle strength training for the bouncing.

But I don’t always get that in. My body lets me know what we can do.

Recovery time matters too. And after some much-needed downtime, I’m back to my ten minutes today.

New mercies every day.

Sometimes it seems like I’m progressing at tortoise speed. But if I had gone all hardcore, I would have lasted only two days and I’d be back on the couch.

Steady and gentle wins the race.

Steady Moves. Steady Timing. Steady Life.
